Ahh...February is here and love is in the air. Have you considered how you can show employees, coworkers, and customers how much you appreciate them this Valentine's Day? There are plenty of great ideas available to help you spread Valentine love in your workplace this year.
Bosses, managers, supervisors - Valentine's Day is the perfect opportunity for you to demonstrate how much you appreciate all the hard work your employees put in for the business throughout the year. Many employees love to feel valued by a boss who can express his or her thanks in many ways. Research shows that employees who feel appreciated by their boss work harder and are happier in the workplace than the employees who don't feel valued. Here are some great tips to get you started:
- Orchestrate a mini-Valentine Day's luncheon. If time and/or money permits, this is a wonderful way to show how much you care about the staff. Blow up the balloons, pass out the sweetheart candy, and munch on sweet goodies.
- Distribute gift cards in small denominations to employees. Choose gift cards from popular restaurants and/or movie theaters.
- Write a small thank-you note to each staff member telling them what it is that they do that makes the workplace special.
- Don't forget about vendors and businesses that you work with on a regular basis - a simple thank-you card should do just fine.
- Spread Valentine cheer through the use of cards. Personalize each card with why you enjoy working with the person.
- Pass out little goodie bags filled with treats to each coworker.
- Suggest an after-work get-together at a local restaurant or pub to share food and drinks.
- Be sure to include supervisors, secretaries, and clerical staff - anybody that you work with on a daily basis.
- Mail or distribute Valentine's Day coupons for services or products offered by your business. These coupons should offer a discount on things that are popular with customers.
- If customers visit the workplace, decorate with Valentine's Day balloons and ribbons. Have candy and/or cookies on hand with coffee or punch to serve your customers.
- Offer a Valentine's Day month, week, or day sale. Customers can receive special discounts on service or products that the business provides.
